 Verified  Location, location, location! Marcela Resort has the most premium location you could ask for in PV! The Romantic Zone of the city and the beach itself are within walking distance (be warned, many stairs), it sits atop a hill that overlooks the ocean and parts of the city, and it also is very close to a very important road for catching busses and Uber rides. Aside from location, the service was great, the rooms were excellent, and the pool area is very beautiful and fun! I highly recommend this resort for all!

 Verified  Beautiful traditional Mexican resort ☺ Marcela is a beautiful traditional Mexican resort. The room was extremely clean and comfortable with a full kitchen. The resort in general is a bit aging but kept in excellent condition. The grounds and pools are breathtaking as is the ocean view. The staff were the best !! Would stay again.

 Verified  PV standout boutique property Exceptional place to stay! Luxurious with the most phenomenal views and gorgeous rooms. Charm like an old European villa. We stayed in The Cave, open air, enormous and very private with a HUGE terrace. My husband and I both clapped with glee when we saw it! Onsite restaurant and pretty pool area are wonderful conveniences. Highly recommend this beautiful intimate resort!

 Verified  Exceptional stay My wife and I have enjoyed our stay at the Marcela resort. We has wonderful massages at the attached spa and enjoyed a sauna as well. The pools and outdoor areas are really nice with plenty of loungers and umbrellas. In addition the 2-1 happy hour margaritas were a nice touch too. Everything else has been fantastic and we have enjoyed the beauty of the views from our comfy 7th floor perch.

 Verified  The hotel itself and the unit was just amazing. We had some out of town guests in for my daughter's wedding. We invited them over there for a little get together before the wedding. Everyone was blown away by the beauty of the hotel and gardens. We will be back.

   I tried to find things to nit pick and had difficulty.  The grounds are absolutely incredible and immaculate.  Shout out to the grounds crew out there early every morning.  The pool layout is great; large pool with 3 functional smaller cascading pools if ya need just family time. Food and drinks were both great as well.  I wouldn’t call either cheap, but nor were they outrageously priced.  Rooms absolutely perfect.  The housekeeping staff must be comprised of wizards, make sure you take care of them. One thing to note - The hotel is on a fairly decent no-nonsense cobble stone hill.  You can easily walk down to town proper via some stairs, but walking up was a grind.  After that experience we Ubered to the tune of roughly $2usd per trip, so effectively very little. My one gripe, the hot tub could be actual hot tub temp. All the above said, highly recommended and we’ll be back next year.

The Silver River

It’s what the locals call “the silver river,” the ancient river that runs down these green hills into the ocean below.

In the 1980s, we were the first to buy property on the banks of Marcela, and we knew it was our duty to help protect this precious resource.

We worked with the local government to build a massive infrastructure project to ensure that—no matter what new developments may come—Marcela would never be stopped on its journey to the Pacific.

What you see here is a meticulous re-creation of Marcela’s original path through Puerto Vallarta. The full, flowing river continues to surge toward the ocean every day beneath our feet.

We saved the silver river because with its sparkling waters come the birds and the butterflies, the flowers and the foliage, and the heart and soul of authentic Mexico.

That’s why we named the resort after it too.
